Gardening- Greenhouse

Buying raw land in 2023 we have had to slowly establish gardens overtime. Summer and Fall 2023 I invested the time and money into getting perennials planted and introduced. We have some beautiful hostas, lupines, bee balm, sage, lavender, catnip, lemon balm, iris', lilies, and many other transplants really loving the mountain.

Now spring 2024 I am trying to get anything edible to grow in all areas of our yard. Still in the process of cutting trees, I am limited on what I can plant in my full clearing. The clearing will be home to our main homestead gardens, small orchard of fruit trees, blueberry bushes, pumpkin patch, cut flowers, & greenhouse.

This year we have the following crops started: carving pumpkins, cucumbers, peas, beans, herbs, watermelon, cantaloupe, gourds, loofa, tomatoes, sweet peppers, jalapenos, banana peppers, summer squash, zucchini, beets, and leaf greens. I do plan on expanding the fresh herbs and getting a variety of more started before too long. My goal this year and moving forward is utilizing the available areas around the yard to grow an edible crop. Companion planting was a huge direction I went this season. Planting cucumbers, dill, and nasturtiums together. I also planted tomatoes with basil, marigolds, nasturtiums, and sunflowers together.

The next side project that I am going to be exploring is tincture making and using the fantastic natural remedies available here.
